Default Tope fishing from kayak

just been reading an article on fishing for tope from a kayak. Dont fancy trying that, but it looks a good way to beat the fuel prices.
Has any of you lads tried it.

Smile yak fishing

Hi, this thread was thrown up after my DIGGER reply hi Rob, we sometimes meet on odd boat trips & it's always a canny day

Most Tope fishing from a 'yak in the UK occurs over the Welsh coast & further down, Anglesea is a good area due to ease of access for us paddlers.
You'd be surprised how well the Kayaks cope with a Tope. Most people see our SOT yaks as "canoes" unfortunately but I've had a demo Ocean Prowler Big Game for over 9 months now courtesy of Johnson Outdoors & had about 30 trips out & still not been tipped owa
It really is a gr8 way to fish as well as a new avenue to explore angling wise but for me it's a natural human progression as a species as we seek the fish we want in any way we can so adapt to the environment much like our inuit ancestors.
Jim Sammons of La Jolly Holla Kayak Fishing from owa the pond has a good site & is a wealth of knowledge + eez geet canny 2. and has caught some awesome fish including Sailfish on his Big Game so that prove's the point. I've got a DVD where someone's getting towed around by a Dorado for 45 mins though & that IS worth watching. The fact that the yak never tipped & he landed the fish was just class to watch
Sorry for name dropping & site naming but I haven't put any links in anyway. I'm against spamming in sites & haven't had time 2 read da rules ok
I'm just promoting the sport without want for profit or gain

Hi Mike. long time no see m8, hope you're well.

If kayak fishing was an option 20 years ago I might of given it a go but dont think I'd fit in one these days lol never mind oar one in the sea. Having caught a few tope tho' I can see the attraction of fishing from a kayak

We've had Tope to 30lb in Luce Bay from the kayaks. Great sport on light tackle and certainly an effective way of getting to them. As Andy mentioned SOT kayaks make a very stable fishing platform.

You don't have to be Steve Redgrave to be able to paddle one either.

Neil.
