Default close season

can anyone tell me if there is a close season for pike on Coinston or windermere, as i have spent hours on the net looking for bye laws and all i can find is about rivers drains ect, but this is for trout and not pike, we were going up this weekend but would rather be on the safe side,i have even phoned the rod licence agency and they could not tell me ,my god what do we pay our licences for ,i bet if we were in the wrong they would be quick enough to know the rules then ,if there was a chance of fining you , so if anyone knows for sure and i mean for sure, can you please let me know and i will be eternally grateful----Karl

i know it doesn't answer your ques. karl (sorry) but my understanding is that the coarse fishing season is over until the 16th jun, surely the environment agency are aware of this, they are the licensing authority

The coarse fishing close season these days doesn't necessarily cover stillwaters, just rivers and some canals. I believe this was introduced so the commercial fisheries could stay open all year. I wouldn't have thought that natural waters like Windermere would still be open for coarse fishing right now, but I've had a quick google and can't see anything to back this up or otherwise.

I'd say your best bet would be to track down a local tackle shop and ask them.
