M4 EVO the same Test curve, same dimensions as the M4 but built with higher Modulus carbon content. Slim powerful beauty.Gives 20% more power but weighs the same. Definitely the modern rod of choice for Smoothhounds and other big Ray fishing venues.

A true mixed ground rod for use with Multiplier or fixed spool

    or from another forum

Zziplex's flagship rod finds itself under more close scrutiny than others. Simpkybas it's top of the pile with the most expensive price tag to boot, a fully built rod with alconites and a zziplex
Rod bag won't leave you much change out of 475 quid, is it worth it?

My own evo is a lovely looking rod, it's whipped in simple black thread with gold edgings, the simplistic
Colours leaves me in no doubtbthat the rod means business. Add to the fact that it's built by the perfectionist Andy Mewse, it really is a lovely looking rod, each new scratch no matter how slight really grates if truth be told but I do look after this one,

EVO, three letters which suggest stiffness and a possible flirtation with being a hero rod. Is this justified?

The rod put together comes in at around 13ft 5ozs, a very stiff butt and mid section gives way to a medium to fast action tip, it doesn't have your typical zziplex fishing tip as this rod has little if any glass content noticeable in the tip,

Some say it suffers from bite detection but if catching 4 inch fish is your thing then you're overgunned.... Way overgunned using a zziplex m4 evo, may I suggest a match rod.

In the sw Scotland match scene LSD makes up the bulk of bags, they don't fight but hang around under kelp ledges, no point in playing them and it's a no nonsense approach that drags these dogs ashore, the m4 evo will do this all day long and was the main reason I purchased one, it has never let ne down.

IMO it has an optimum casting weight of 6ozs but is more than happy with 5, this Is a really powerful rod and less able casters will experience it's kick, possibly less distance and more than likely, bad accuracy also,

I find my fishing style with a 8ft drop slows the cast down enough and allows me to wind the rod up to consistently send baits out to around 120-130 yards, I have even tried this in the field and can make 141 with a baited trace, waste of a poor lug lol

Long range fishing is what this one is all about, if extra yardage is required then I will switch to the m4 evo as I can guarantee an extra 20 yards with this rod compared to my match rods, it's a great weapon for anyones artillery, I'd really like to see the big hitters use this rod for fishing as they will get monstrous distances as I am pretty middle of the rod when it comes to casting.

In short it's a mixed ground 6ozs distance rod with a very slim diameter. Looks can be deceptive because this one is an established 300 yarder and packs a real punch to get baits out very far.
