  • Summer Fishing Darn Sarf

Looking for a long weekend sometime over the summer months and really fancy these two places but have no experience of either.

Which would you fish (if any)
    Chesil Beach
    Dungeness

    Other suggestions welcome.

    Thanks.
    Cheers.
    Michael.

What do you want to catch and when are you planning to go? Big variety of fishing available on the south coast in the summer but personally I wouldn't be heading for Dungie (or any of the Kent marks for that matter). So of the two I'd go Chesil every time though it can be hit and miss and you risk being plagued by Woofers (more than once I made the 200 mile round trip from Portsmouth to pull the bait robbers in two at a time hitting the bait before the sinker hit the bottom). On it's day though it can be one of the best beaches in the country with a huge variety of species to be caught though you need to trek along the shingle to escape the hoards of tinsel tossers.

As alternatives I'd consider Sussex for some cracking sport with Smoothhound frequently over double figures as well as Bass, Golden Grey Mullett, Black Bream and Sole after dark; some great marks around Selsey for the hounds though the weed can be a pain; Brighton / Shoreham for Sole, Bass, Mullett and hounds along with late Bream and the odd surprise thrown in or another alternative for some cracking fishing is the Isle of Wight...
