  • CVFN "Gone Fishing" Radio Show

CVFM "Gone Fishing" Radio Programme broadcasts each Saturday from 8 am to 10 am. with live reports from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales on all angling disciplines. You can tune in live on CVFM Radio 104.5fm "Listen Live". The programme is also put onto Mix Cloud from the following Monday, where it can be heard at any time. This week's special guest is Pete Davis who is a shark angling charter boat skipper from Poole, Dorset. He is also Chairman of the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain, who have recently passed new rules for an angler catching a specimen or record shark does not have to kill the fish. The record can be claimed by weighing, measuring and being witnessed. The fish can then be returned alive to the water. At the moment shark anglers fishing in Pete's area are taking a lot of Blue Shark and recently a Blue of over 220 lb was landed. This fish is being claimed as the new record. A few days after the catch of this fish an even bigger Blue was caught. Unfortunately the angler can't claim a record because the fish was foul hooked in the fin. Last week one of the boats had a Thresher Shark estimated at over 400 lb brought to the side of the boat. Discretion played a big part in the decision not to bring the fish on board and it was released at the side of the boat. A Thresher's tail can do a lot of damage.
Another special guest on Saturday is Norman Dunlop. For many years Norman was the Angling Advisor to the Central Fisheries Board in Ireland. He is now retired, but still fishing and without a doubt, Noman is one of the most well respected anglers in the whole of Ireland. He was responsible for putting up all the signs at the side of the road pointing to the best fishing marks and bait digging areas.
