  • What 13' rod for a FS reel in the £150 range?

A chap I know is wanting to get a bit more into shore fishing this winter & has £150 to spend. He's got a new FS reel & I reckon something in the 13ft range would be a decent all rounder, but which one is it?
I've only got rods for multi's so can't really suggest anything.

    Any advice welcome!

I have an Imax Extreme Fixed Spool rod. It has as much backbone as my Harrison Torrix P3's. You can get less powerful versions, just depends on where he wants to fish really. Pay around £120.I really can't fault the rod. Worth a look.

I also have the IMAX big lad model, well made and with plenty backbone for heavy ground and hurling big leads. Cannot recall how much I paid exactly but you would have change out of £150

Ahh well, thanks for the input lads but he's bought a 15' 9" Penn Rampage 2 for £70, new.

Sounds like a continental style rod, dunno how It'll cope as an all rounder.

asked frazers first for a price as they had none in stock came back £165 then some discount for cash, still could not match veals price £120 free p&p
also got a tronix reel fitting better than the coasters that come with the rod.

You know when someone asks for advice then does the opposite of what I asked then advised?

                        Yeah, that.

Now he's just asked what line to use & what leader etc. Think I'll just advise to ask whoever sold him the rod.

I tell them I can get it from here for this much but if they can get close or match it I would rather give them my money and keep my local tackle shop open
I got the abu grip locks for both of mine
