The final amount raised from the comp was £285.00
The money from the auction (£375.00), the £300 donated by IanW and the lads at Siemmens along with what we already had in the NESA account, will be added to the comp total. This means that a cheque for £1,000 will soon be handed over to the RNLI. Many thanks to ALL who took part in raising such amounts. |

From Michael Charlton:
On behalf of the RNLI I would like to thank the members of NESA for their continued support. It is only through the funds raised by people like yourselves that we are able to operate our service. 90% of our crews nowadays have no maritime background and are willing to swap warmth and comfort for cold and danger at a moments notice. You have raised a staggering total to date, with only a few events and in a short space of time. NESA is most certainly thought of as members of the Lifeboat family. Please continue to support the NESA members who organise your fundraising activities. This is not an easy task, so remember to give them a big thank you at your next event. The most recent donation will go, as requested, to the RNLI Grace Darling Museum Educational Appeal for £150,000. The museum is being redeveloped and this appeal is for a purpose build education facility within the new museum. On completion both adults and children will be able to learn about Grace, the work of the modern day lifeboat service and, most importantly of all, how to stay safe at the coast. Hopefully this will go some way to reducing the number of tragic incidences that occur each year. I have joined NESA into the Grace Darling 200 Club, which is limited to just 200 members who make a sizeable contribution to the appeal. Once the museum is reopened in 2006, representatives from NESA will be invited to a VIP opening to see the significant contribution they have made. Once again, I thank you for your support and wish you good fishing. Michael Charlton Area Fundraising Manager North Region RNLI. |
