NESA - North East Sea Angling: Battery Powered or Chemical Tip Light Battery Powered or Chemical Tip Light ================================================================================ nesa on 17 August, 2006 12:00:00 Most tackle shops carry both types. The battery powered tip light is simply an led powered by a watch type battery with a simple on off switch. The tip light can be whipped to the tip of the rod. Usually available in either red or green. Chemical varieties are cheaper but have a limited life. Once activated, they cannot be turned off. These should be fastened to the tip with eletricians tape or similar as you will need to change them on a regular basis. My choice would be the battery powered version.
