Remember the summer and plenty of fish?

Earlier in September, my lad, Oli strapped a go-pro type camera to a float, to which he attached a string of muppets or jelly eels and hung a 4oz weight off the end and dropped the lot over the side.

    The edited results are here.

    Farnes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kyxy5f8V0c

He didn't set out to catch anything. the lures were just to act as visual attractors, though you'll see he does catch several fish all the same.

What interested me was how many fish there are down there, especially the Farnes They're all inquisitive, but also cautious, which makes me think about how the lures move underwater, how important bait presentation is, and what to do to improve it.

Great video. Your lad was lucky in the first video that he didn’t lose the camera on the stray rope.

It goes to show that even on a day when you’re not getting any bites, the fish can be down there.
I’ve noticed in videos, how noisy the line can be as it transmits sound from running through the rod rings or when the lead bounces around. There’s still a lot to learn.

You're right Kevin. It was a close call, and not one that was marked.

A lot of noise was from the movement between the camera and float, but there is still a noticeable level of noise when the lead hit a rock. Sound must travel a long way in water too, which is one of the principles behind uptiding. But it also arouses curiosity in the fish. As you say, something to chew over.

      Cheers
