    FISHING REPORT 9/6/09

The weather has cooled down but to be honest it has done the fishery some good. Water temperatures were getting very high and the heavy weekend rain and cooler winds have freshened up the lakes to good effect. Pond/lake olives and in some cases mayfly are now showing on the lakes and Midge pupa too remain high on the trouts menu, however expect pupa to become smaller from now on, any imitations of these are now taking fish steadily. Damsels are a major food source from this month through summer and sedges and caenis figure as the season of the evening rise progresses.

Another fine fishing display this week by many anglers who took plenty of fish and cdc patterns worked well even in the rain and winds which was surprising. Peter Green of Stockton had a bumper day with a tally of 16 fish with his best at 8lbs 7ozs and his partner Karen Green had 12 ,her best at 6lbs 2ozs. Keith Cotton of Sunderland had a nice 15lb 4oz fish, Graham Harvey had 11 fish all on dries and Dave Leitch had 9 fish on a foam beetle dry including a nice Brown estimated at 5lb.
