posted on 12/11/2004 at 21:28Fished Whitby's west pier this morning for a couple of hours, 3up 1 down.
Not a lot of movement in the water but had to have a go anyway, light what seemed like westerly winds, plenty of weed. 4 others guy's on when I arrived (all fishless)spread out evenly along it's lenght.
I fished the very end with a bit of success, 14 whites, the majority caught on the ebb (after 3am) and most were sizeable, a coddling just under 3lb, and a couple of billet (all fish returned to be caught again apart from 2 whites which were knackered when reeled up). Had a variety of bait's but best by far was rotten mussel. All in all pleasant trip, out again on sunday night (Runswick) weed permitting. I just hope that this winter turns out to be as productive as last years.
I thought I would post this cause there isnt a lot of reports from the southern area of the north east coast.
