Fished the flood this afternoon almost up to top water, left at around 19:30. Still a decent sea on and a bit of weed catching the line. Couldn't hold initially with 6oz so upped it to 7 which was Ok. Sea eased a bit later in the afternoon. I guess it's the shape of the beach but when I first got there an hour into the flood waves were breaking way out beyond my casting range stirring up a lot of weed. Later on as the tide lifted the breakers were close to the beach so it was east to get the line clear of them. Some lads arrived towards the end and set up on the Prom itself which I will remember for next time. But if I had done that when I started it would have been a 50 yard chuck plus to reach the water
Used lug, crab and mussell in various combinations on a 3/0 pulley rig. Caught a few undersize codling, plus one which will be on the menu for tonights tea. I might have put it back but it was hooked way down and wouldn't have made it.
Thanks again to Phil for putting me on the mark.
