I'm looking for a new rod for the summer and winter, mostly going to be using it for rock fishing an some beach fishing. The rods i like the sound of are the Century Kompressor Sport, WR300 or Greys Platinum GSI.

I'm just looking for peoples opinions on them before i part with my cash. I have seen the Kompressor and Wr300 2nd hand almost new for £150-£175 and i have the chance of a new Platinum GSI for £150. What are the differences between them and is there anouther rod anyone can suggest that is as good as them.

Thanks in advance for your help.:)

p.s If anyone has any of the above or anything similar they are looking to sell could you pm me.

i would be wary of the platinum as the modern greys are known to snap and if ur going on the rocks its a no no the wr 300 is a good winter rod and the new kompressor sports will handel any situation ive got the kompressor ss its a class piece of kit

ive just bought a century carbon metal crest yesterday for rocks mixed ground nice rod ,theres a zziplex ft on ebay nice rods

Ive got a WR300 and find it is an excellent all rounder. Very good for the rocks and shows 5" whiting bites.

Think the gsi will struggle on the rocks more of a beach rod save your pennies up mate and get a crest might pop over with mine next week so you can have a look, its an excellent all round rod thats very light very reliable and very reasonably priced

Cheers bud.

WR300 is an excellent all round rod, Apollo Mk 1 second hand is always an excellent second choice. Everyone has their own favourite, the new Kompressors are getting excellent reviews and are very ''user friendly''.

According to Andy Rutherford his Black Knight is a stepped up TT Sport and 13 6". Tbh it looks very good at that price and should handle the rocks.

A normal Kompressor Sport is also a good cheap bet. I would spend £110 on a RT Axellerator myself - Andy had some brand new ones in a few weeks ago. I think he is on holiday in Namibia or Gambia at the mo though.

i think hes back today jimbob or sometime 2morro, ive got the black knight myself and have used it on the rocks myself but i think it would struggle to bully a decent fish through the kelp and rock, then again i havnt had a decent fish on that rod lol

Already have a RT. They are a bit on the stiff side tho so want something slightly softer for casting.

Like I said when I saw you last if I hadn't won the GSI I prob wouldn't have bought one...

a) it's a huge hill of beans to spend
b) having now used it a couple of times it's def' not an out and out heavy ground rod (might still end up buying an RT at some point)

Lovely to cast with tho'...even with my caveman style of casting...gonna have to do some practice to do it justice methinks

Tony, I've got a RT Axellerator, I just can't get away with it, my casting is terrible anyway but I was getting nest after nest, kept changing reels until I decided ot was the RT. I've got a Penn RuffStuff now, much better IMHO.
