Had a few hours out there today, from about 1030 til about 3.

Dab after dab, the odd flounder and a couple of very small codling, all went back to get bigger!

Great day to be out, and unexpectedley it was quite quiet down there, only a few others fishing.

i'm intrigued that you carried you rest when the railings will suffice!
i'm getting old so carry as little as possible.
well done on the catch - i may try there tomorrow as the tides are easy!

Nice sesh matey but here's a tip, just use the top bit of the rest and tape it to the rail and jobs a goodin, saves you having to lug the whloe thing around and will still keep yer zippies in tip top con.

Unless theres a long walk to the mark and your lazy i dont see why not use a tripod. Better bite detection, a place to hang prebaited rigs and a bait bucket from, the only time i do without is when traveling via bus.

picture 1 showing off his tackle dirty boy ..2 canny rods 1 looks like its armed with some type of saltist..also a saltrod stand balancing a rod bag and bait container...a backpack of some sort :o and a sundridge trolleybox ..a camoflauged coat of some sort to hide from any incoming chavs :D and last of all a radio maybe listening to music or the match :D

Tripod waste of space at the walkway mate. Like I said earlier just tape the head onto the rails. You still get canny bite detection like providing there's some fish there.

Nice fish mate. If your worried about scratching your rods on the railings, you can get a Velcro rod holder off eBay for about two pound. These still give you excellent bite detection and are a lot easier to carry. Tripods are good but unessential when you have railings and want to pack light but that's just my opinion.

I know what your saying mate, but the tripod sits nicely in me rod quiver/holdall,so is very easy to carry, plus when I got dropped off yesterday it was about a 20ft walk to where I was fishing:D:D:red:

Fair comment matey but I think you get better bite detection off of the actual rod rest head. Just my opinion like.
