You never know ! Alcan beach

Well my motto has always been : "If you put a bait in the sea; you've always got a chance that something might just come along"
I fished the Alcan beach today from 11.30am - 3.30pm. Quite a big "ground swell" still running but dying away all the time. However I have not done well at all for cod from this beach during daylight this season (in fact I have only had one cod from here and that was during dark) However I wanted to get out of the house, so I decided to give it a shot. Couldn't get any lugworm, so I made do with local dug ragworm from my tanks, three large whiteworm and some frozen yellowtail skins.
Nice mild day but very windy making long casting "a doddle". Wasn't very optimistic, but I managed to catch 2 x 3lbs cod, a coaly about 1lb and an undersize cod, which fortunately was only lipped hook and was able to swim away strongly.
Makes the day even more enjoyable, when you don't really expect anything.

nice one mate, makes it all the better when you go out expecting little or nout n end up with a good session.:D

Nice1 av always gone to the left just beside wher the rocks finish but not had much luk apart from a few smaller 1s well suppse you Neva know where they going ta land on that beach ha

I know where you mean Bosh. I have found it a bit snaggy where your on about, although I haven't fished that area for a long time. The thing with Lynemouth / Alcan beach is : it is always inconsistent, but you always feel you have a chance of a reasonable fish or two as long as there is some sea running. Mind you I have had plenty of "blanks" even when conditions have looked ideal.
