Whats the thoughts on how fish react to the high output sonic waves created by modern fishfinders ? Anybody tried turning them off and seeing if the catch rate increases ?

I have heard that if you paint pictures on th underside of your boat it puts them at ease and helps catch rates (or maybe just paint your prop a nice colour)

we used to fish with a guy up in scrabster who used to switch his sounder off once he located fish as he swore that it put the fish down, his reasoning was that the sounder pulses sounded like dolphins, he did have a high powered professional set and this was in less than100 feet of water.

don\'t ask me if it made any difference, switching the big diesel engine off in that shallow water does make a difference though, and these guys never do.

Would probably run aground if I turned mine off while Bassing. Only switch if off whilst at anchor for Tope, come to thing about it thats also the only time I switch the motor off as well.

The only good prop is a painted prop - you know it makes sense . :P

Your right Dave , we were very close in that trip . Would be impossible with the sounder off .

I bet you cannot wait to try the \"death ray\" Bob

I forgot about the engine Les , but methinks I\'ve made a big enough arse of myself already so we will leave that for another day :P
