  • Rnli fund day.

Just a thought . I know that the kayak lads do a fund raising event for the RNLI. Was just wondering if anyone is interested in a fund raising day with the boat lads sometime in the summer. Just thought it would be a good idea to raise some funds for them. Hopefully none of us need them but if we do, you know they will be there, and they could always use a bit more help for the volunteers

2 of us who are new to kayaking would be happy to help, but we only go so far out for safety reasons.

Cheers Alan that would be great, once I sort a date out in the summer, and to see how many are interested, I will let you know the details.

Still trying to think of a way of doing it at the min Kev. But will come up with something.

We used to have "fun" comps years ago, turn up at Royal Quays at said time, paid a fiver or whatever, back at said time, heaviest fish takes half the pot the other half goes to RNLI. Obviously you need RQ's permission.
                    Cheers, Keith.

Yes, it's a shame that those stopped Keith.

Running a comp with weigh-in at the RQ worked well in the past and only stopped when sponsorship dried up. The marina runs more and more social events now and I guess would jump at the chance to host a competition.
