  • Missing lobster pots - Amble

Hey all, we dropped a couple of lobster creels on our way out of Amble Sunday 8th and when I returned to pull them Tuesday 10th - not a sign despite scanning the GPS coords.

The post were marked with white 25l can painted orange with a few stars (!) and marked with a white plastic flag with the name of the boat and the NEIFCA number on it (Silver Star - LSP694). A smaller 5l can (again painted orange with a star) was also attached.

This was the first time we've dropped any pots - so with the decent swell there was Monday/Tuesday with the easterly winds, there is a chance that I've arsed up my rope weight calculations and they've drifted off.

I'd be grateful if anyone spots them to let me know - just for learning's sake more than anything else!

i thought pots were meant to be marked in a manner in which they could be seen from a distance???? ie a dhan bouy with a pole and the marker flag at the top---the sort of thing that makes up "bamboo city" in some areas

Sorry, should have made that clearer - the 25l can has a 4foot "Flag pole" on top of which was the white plastic flag!
