  • Catfish

Until last year i had never caught or seen a catfish landed.I ended up with a small one around 3lb on Daves boat in july.Whats the biggest catfish you lot have caught and what tactics and bait was it caught on? i have heard of 6lbers caught from the Tyne.I caught mine on baited hookies tipped with chunks of mackerel.

When you say catfish . do you mean that ugly git with the big teeth you left for me to take off the hook for you :P

just to mention . when I was oin that bitesize fish filleting course the lad that took it worked on the trawlers . When they caught them they put them on the boat handrail which they bit on to and would not let go , so keep your hands clear if you hook one

Still on my wanted list, the divers report plenty of them on the wrecks and they actually sit and feed them sea urchins. Mainly feed on shellfish hence those powerful shell crushing jaws.

Never caught one yet but have seen them pulled in by mates. They are uglier than an ugly thing on an overdose of ugly pills. My mate reckons they taste excellent though. True??

about 8 years ago my old man had one from \"shy torque\" out of whitby weighed just under 12lb he got a pic in sea angler with it i believe.

he said he had squid bait at slack water, best fight he had of a fish he said it fought all the way to the top

              made a loverly meal also

i think he still has the skull somewere??
