  • Kayak 12lb Cod.

With a couple of yak caught fourteen pounders from Blyth and a 14 lber and from Skinningrove on Sunday, me and Wayne hoped Monday would be our lucky day.

We paddled out and fished in 30ft of water but with an ebbing tide decided to go out a bit further and fish a bit deeper.

Wayne's twin tail hadn't hit the bottom when his rod was nearly yanked out of his hand.

The first couple of dives had him thinking it was a good pollock as it took line, but then he felt the familiar 'nod' of a cod. As the fish neared the surface he could see it was a decent size and definately his personal best, when it was on the top he dragged it onto the deck and got a good hold so it didn't escape, it weighed in at 12lb but at home on the digi scales it hit 12 1/2lb.

After 5hrs I ended up with four codling over 3lb.and a mackerel, Wayne had 3 codling and 11 mackerel.

After half a dozen tiring paddles/drifts over the productive ground we headed for home - Great day, great company and Waynes PB Cod what more could you ask for.
