Bob White boat comp was held last Saturday fishing out of Amble. Conditions were ok apart from a couple of snotty choppy hours around midday so headed south with comp partner Gary. Fished usual bait methods for little reward so out came the jelly again and it saved the day. Fish came in more often and as we only had the one spinning rod we took turns with alternate drifts. After a few nice Pollack, Gary said he had a good un, looked like a pot rope to me but he proved me wrong when this came up :-
Photo taken just after boating.
Below is a pic of happy Gary with his fish.
As it turned out it was the winner (13lb 8oz) put me to shame I think I was about 8th with a 6lb 11oz Pollack, but a great day for us.
Fish cool box :-
The comp raised over £1000 for St Oswalds Hospice and the RNLI thanks to the organisation of Norma (Amble Angling Centre) and her crew.
Most of the fish were bought by the Boathouse restaurant with the proceeds going to the charity.
