Hi All,
Fished both the ground and wrecks south of Sunderland. As has been the case recently, the ground produced the better quality and volume of fish.
Three of us fished and caught around 40-45 Cod and an assortment of Coalie's, Pouts etc.... The biggest went to the skipper, an 8lb ish Cod.
Most fish were caught anchored and using large fresh crab baited flowing traces.
I took my 35g spinning rod out with me and had some fun using it to jig for Cod, (using 50g spinner) whilst the bait rod was out. Biggest fish i got was 3lb codling, great sport.
Though we didn't fish for any mackeral I heard a few boats taking them just off the piers and over a few larger wrecks.
