  • Terri Louise - Sat 9th June

We were'nt to sure weather to bother today or not with the northerlies forcasted, but glad we did.

Headed out around 9:30 hardly a breath of wind but canny foggy and the sea was almost flat.
First we tried a patch of rough ground but nothing was doing so we moved onto a wreck futher out, wear the water was a lot clearer.

First drop down we were straight into our first mackeral of the season, then every drift after that gave us fish after fish untill the tide turned and it went a bit quiet, so we tried the rough ground off the caravans but only pulled in the odd poutin. Headed back in about 3:00.
The total between us was over 20 codling between 3-7 lb mostly 5-6 lb'ers, a few small ling about 3-4 lb, a load of mackeral, the odd whitey and poutin.

Great day out and nice to see the wreck finding game paying off.

Me Dad though he had a good'n on but ended up being 3 x 3-4 lbers

This posh jiggas been in me dads box for ages waiting for a good enough wreck to try it on. Needless to say he lost it lol

Some strange creature a cod coughed up ???

Great report & pics mate well done lads

That's a squat lobster in the last pic.

Those orange Royd lures / muppets certainly worked well today.
      Cheers, Keith.

I Kieth them orange squid type lures from Mr Royd always seem to do ok for me.
Squat Lobster ey, first time av seen a cod cough one up, we were'nt to sure what it was.
They always seem to have a load of pipe fish in them lately.

I see you edited Stephen out Norman lol, Martin's the real name, I have'nt quiet earned the name Codfather yet.

I dunno if squat lobsters travel around in groups??? but that might explain the orange lures working so well.
                  Cheers, Keith.

                            good report!
the sea seems to be lifting with cod at the minute especially down whitby.
one thing ive noticed this year is there doesnt seem to be the abundance of pipefish being spat out compared to the last couple of year.
they have been full of little crawly starfish down whitby.
as for the orange royd muppets - yes they do the biz , but everything works when theyre this thick on the ground. shads ,normal muppets , hokkies even plain colourless lead pirks.
who said theres no cod left in the sea !!!!
