Sharpley 22/01/2014
After heading to Reelsport on Tuesday to buy a new fly rod I decided to christen it at sharpley on Wednesday with my cousin.
We got there about 10 and signed in. It was a bit hard going to start with but picked up as the day went on.
After a couple of hours moving about and trying a few different things I started getting takes the first one I got was a good take but managed to snap my tippet and nick my fly after that I had another three takes in a row and didn’t manage to land a single one (still got a lot to learn) I was beginning to lose all hope, then I got another take and I was determined to land this one. It put up a good fight but after a few minuets I managed to land it a nice 3lb rainbow on a nymph.
I was using a 9’6 fly rod with 7wf floating line with various nymphs and buzzers.
So after five takes four lost one landed quite a calm day weather wise we had a good days sport.
