  • Pike day out

Off we went to our favourite little body of water with high hopes ( as usual ) .

Deadbaiting was the tactics for the day ...it's the only method I've tried so far .

The results for the day where , five pike to me up to 6 pound and four pike to Steve my mate again to 6 pound .... actually it looked like the same fish .

A great day had by both of us , mind you I didn't realise how tiring it is winding five fish in after a good wade out and long cast .

      Esthwaite

Have you ever pike fished Esthwaite Steve?

I fly fish it quite regular and have had pike to over 20lb on the fly whilst fishing for trout. You are allowed to fish for them with deadbaits etc.

I am going to give it a go soon and see what happens!

Eddie ,I use a Shimano 6000 type reel and a 3lb test curve carp rod mate , but take my advice you need to go with someone who knows what they are doing .

Fluffchucker I think my mate has fished there ,he's mentioned it throws up some canny fish.

no problem mate will be down that way in bout 4 weeks so will be going to have another go, also trout to 10lb and 20lb plus carp in the lake worth chucking a few lures for the trout if pike not playing
