Bit windy so first thoughts were to check the sheltered bit at the bottom of the steps. Poked my head over and there were rakes of fish moving on the surface as close as 4 feet out. I\'d stuck a lure on before even looking at the water (lesson learned) but saw loads of little black flies on the water. Must have been one of them hatches. At the risk of looking like a tit I was keeping my head down and it took me yonks to get a fly on my hands were shaking that much. It was impossible to make a poor cast there was that many of the blighters.
I thrashed the water to a foam tried everything, even dropping paving slabs from the top of the bank. Not a sniff. Exciting in the extreme but hugely frustrating. They were there in numbers all afternoon / evening. I decided to move during a lull in their partying onto mark x 50 yards away where the lad had a few out in my last post. little green superdry fly on the wrong leader so it was fished just under the surface 2nd cast guess what
Bot All
I kid, had a couple of fish out and a few mad chases and misses, biggest rainbow to date as well. The lad over the way in my old spot got one out but that was pure luck honest.
