Im sure the carp are different types common ironically is a harder to find fish, ie the common was in abundance in the early 16-1700's !!! so they were sourced as food while other branches of carp were imported from other parts of the world...mirror carp etc etc so as already said yes they are different species ;-);-)

I was carp fishing one evening and just to see if it would work I tried some Isome. It was one of the rare sessions last year when the carp were feeding hard and would have picked up any hook bait. The Isome in the pic has been pulled about in the fight to the landing net but it was presented to disguise the size 10 hook.

Good luck to all the guys who enter, I'll be giving it a miss this year for various reasons but look forward to the reports.
Only a suggestion but wouldn't it be better to change the ID card & only make it available from the start date ? Rather than make it available 2 months prior.

              Lure Challenge 2014

Just had Indian Rockfish, Catfish and Tiger fish this week off a kayak / Boat in Goa. No Lure Card with me and then dropped my phone in the water!!! Double bummer! Not that they would have counted like.... I'll see if i can recover the pics and post them later. Going to have a proper try this year! good luck fellas!! I can smell Flounders in the Wear already!

Phil - think you need to change the card and issue it maybe 24hrs before BST, just a suggestion mate.

Once again we will be relying on peoples honesty with regards to the regards are. I though about having a different card to the species hunt but didn't want people fishing both to have to photo the fish twice.

A person would have to be seriously mentally ill to lie about catching something or about what method caught it.
I'm itching to go fishing but I'm too busy hunting my hawk and dog. I haven't fished since September so by April I'll be desperate to get out.

The first day of the challenge is a nice big low at around 09:00, so I think I'll be having a trip down shields with the lrf gear and trying to knock a few of the mini species off. I think im going to need them this year

I'll be fishing first weekend of April but not sure where or what for as it depends on the weather etc. Whatever I do on the shore, boat or freshwater 50% at least is done using artificials of some kind.
I'm guessing the lads who took part last year don't do much boat fishing as there were no ling caught.
