BOROUGHBRIDGE LURE EVENT
The Lure Anglers Society have tried for a long time to run a more Northern lure match, but finding a suitable water has been a problem, until now. With the help of Will Smith and Mark Houghton we have put together a great days lure fishing on the River Ure, a cracking water.
SUNDAY 14th JULY, FISH 9am – 4pm
The match is sponsored jointly by Mark Houghton with his beautiful hand made lures (MH custom lures), and Moonfleet Angling of Gateshead (Moonfleet Angling - Sea Fishing Adjustable Rigs). Prizes for best pike and best perch, then best total weights.
This two mile stretch of the River Ure is noted for its pike with twenties being caught every year. The perch have come on in the last few years and a match was won recently with 6 perch for over 12lb, perch fishing does not come much better.
Meet at the Three Horseshoes Pub car park, Bridge Street, Boroughbridge, Yorks. YO51 9LF. Pub will be open by 8am for bacon sarnies, tea/coffee etc also a full English breakfast is only £5 including hot drink.
Cost including day ticket £8 but please have the right money. Juniors fish free when accompanied by a paying adult. Fish 9am – 4pm and back to the pub for the prize giving.
Boroughbridge is just off the A1(M) junction 48 just north of Leeds. Follow the signs into Boroughbridge and the pub is on the left overlooking the river just before the roundabout, you are only about 1 ½ miles from the A1.
....thought a few of you lads may be interested in this. As far as I`m aware you need to be a Lure Anglers Society member (details on the LAS website), but if we manage to get enough interest, and if we end up with enough local members, we may even consider forming a Northeast chapter of the club.
