South Shields volunteer life brigade were first on scene, team members rigged a rope rescue haulage system, team technician was lowered with paramedic to administer 1st aid, very hazardous conditions with driving rain and high winds, casualty was evacuated via the inshore lifeboat then transferred to the all weather lifeboat where he was winched aboard the rescue helicopter and transferred the the RVI in Newcastle.

The lad is my cousin, I got a phone call from his brother when I was at work. He had been told he had fell off the cliffs, needless to say we feard the worst. Ivve since been told he was on the rocks and snapped his ankle and is awaiting surgery. Other than that he's ok. Very lucky.

Very lucky indeed. Anyone know which mark he was fishing ?
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.
