  • Tackle for Beach fishing !

Need some advise from you pro\'s here

I am going to be having my first bash at fishing from the Beach this winter (Only been fishing for a couple of months), and need to get myself tackled out.
What would you recommend I need ?- I don\'t mean rods/end tackle etc, more, lighting, clothing, etc.

Chances are that I will probably have to gan oot on me own - none of the mates are into fishing really.
Will be doing the Yorkshire coast, and anywhere else north - Whitby, Shields, etc

    Any help apreciated

I would try to get someone to go with you who knows what they are doing if it\'s your first go just for advice and safety.

If you\'re strapped for cash and need some waterproofs, pop along to a builders supply place like Jewsons, they\'ve usually got builders waterproofs and they\'re dirt cheap - think my last set were about a tenner (you get the jacket and pants) not fashionable but the keep the rain and wind out.

Top tip Kenny, well mine anyway,i always check i have my nailclippers they are ideal for trimming tag ends off line, bait elastic and my little first aid kit i bought from tesco\'s we all hope you/we will never cut ourselves but we all do at some stage so i stick it inside my coat (it\'s no good in the boot of the car)
If you are fishing on your own always tell your mother where you are lol or take a mobile
          have fun m8..
          Cheers Alan...

Cheers Guys - all advice taken in - can\'t wait to get out there !
It will be in October sometime - after I have been out on a 10 hour charter from Whitby again ! Going out on \'Chieftan\' on Oct 12th.
Might book for a 60 hour trip on it next year (Will have to remember to pack the travel pills !)

Kenny, after you fill the boat with fish on Oct 12th you might not want to stand on a beach for six hours without a bite.i was once told \"its not the winning its the taken part that matters\" stupid phrase anyway.lol.
              Best of luck.
              Cheers Alan...

Nah, I should be alright Alan, even if I catch nowt from the beach.
My very first attempt at fishing a couple of months ago on Whitby Pier - 4.00am I went out, returned at 10.00am with nothing but an empty tackle box !
The sea was massive to say it was summer, loads of weed about (And plenty getting hooked !). Lost loads of gear - rigs, leads, etc, etc - but was buzzing my tits off !!!
Went home with no tackle, but very happy

Just wait till the winter arrives properly though Kenny, you might change your mind.

Fingers so cold you\'ve got to put them in your lit Zippo to warm them up.

Coffee that\'s painfull to drink cos your teeth are that cold.

Not being able to see properly cos your glasses are covered in a salt spray.

The Logistics that goes into trying to have a **** cos you\'ve got so many layers of clothes on.

And the beating you get when you finally get to bed and snuggle up to her indoors.

God we must be mad :P
As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

Come up with a fantastic solution to prevent the salt build up on my glasses....buying some of those one day contact lenses. Save scratching the hell out of the lenses on my glasses. The only thing that puts me off fishing in the bad weather is not being able to see clearly \'cause of rain, salt, bits of mackeral etc on my lenses.

Whoever said \"Shore Fishing is a sport for masochists\" knew what he was talking about.
