  • Whitley Bay AS 4th open summer match result 28/07/13

Despite horrible conditions this morning we still managed to get 20 hard-core lads turning out at Beadnell...seems the light-weights don't like a bit of wind & rain The weigh-in was better than could have been expected at the start, with 12 lads weighing in around 50lb of fish. Boundaries were opened up given the conditions to allow people to seek a bit of shelter at the likes of Newton & Craster, but fish came from all over.

    1st - Steve Williams, 4 fish - 9lb 1oz winning £100
    2nd - Chris Potts, 3 fish - 5lb 14oz winning £50
    3rd - Keith Barthgate, 4 fish - 4lb 15oz
    4th - Shaun Brannen, 3 fish - 4lb 10oz
    5th - Ian Crombie, 3 fish - 4lb 7oz
    6th - Gary Wilson, 1 fish - 4lb 4oz (Heaviest fish) winning £50
    7th - Garry Appleton, 2 fish - 3lb 13oz
    8th - Mick Clark, 3 fish - 3lb 12oz
    9th - Ian Hall, 1 fish - 3lb 2oz
    10th - Micky "Topeman" Bell, 1 fish - 3lb 1oz
    11th - Scott Davison, 2 fish - 2lb 8oz
    12th - Ken Salt, 2 fish - 1lb 15oz

    7th - Mark Newton - 7lb 9oz
    8th - Keith Bathgate - 6lb 6oz

    17th - Mick Clark - 3lb 12oz
    18th - Paul Buddles - 3lb 10oz

Well done to those that braved the conditions & managed to catch, hope things are a bit more pleasant in 4 weeks time for the next match at Newton....2 weeks time is the Bedlington Summer open.

Aye, lots of small fish all over today Davy, even at Beadnell...was pleasantly surprised to get mine early on along with Ian Hall, but then it went dead on the back of the point - other gullies were throwing up the smaller fish with lots of other bites.

A lot of small fish all over John; except the back of the point - Ian & I got our fish within minutes of each other after an hour or so but then it went dead...only one other small bite after that. There were a few small fish from the western end near the harbour, but more fish in the gullies north of the point. Also small fish at Craster & Newton, so fish were more or less evenly spread out all over.
