6 Adults and 2 junior members turned out for this short notice comp on the River Wear at South Hylton, even though a lot of members were on holiday or working.
The comp was fished between the hours of 9am and 1pm on Sun 5th Sept 10, with high tide around the 1pm finish. Conditions were lovely with bright sunshine and little wind.
Ian Ainsley was into a 33cm Flounder first cast, but things were a little quiet until the tide started to pull.
Most anglers then started to get the bites, with rag being the favoured bait of the day.
Little Calum Stuart 8yrs, was again into the fish before his dad, and Luke Ainsley 12yrs, making his first comp, was also into the fish, before most others.
Peter Chadwick was then into a 35cm Flounder, looking a good choice for the longest fish, with around one hour left.
Flounders and coleys, began to show on a regular basis, when with only minutes left, little Calum pulled out a 36cm Flounder to take the prize. The smile on his face when he received his money, told it all.
A good day, in lovely conditions, with even two kingfishers making an appearance.

    RESULTS.

    1st. Ian Ainsley 7 fish for 106pts
    2nd. Peter Chadwick 2 fish for 75pts
    3rd. Calum Stuart(8yrs) 4 fish for 73pts
