  • Best bag this year 20,01,2014

Went up the Northumberland tonight Howick area, first choice location was way to heavy, fished last 2 hours of the flood, 3 down. Had 3 fish... 3,lb, 4,lb, 6,lb,

Had first fish [3,lb] an hour before high water, foul hooked in the back so thought i had hooked a lunker in the big surf. 2nd & 3rd fish in successive casts, an hour and half or so down.
Lost 2 fish,1 after reeling in 10 yards, another 5 yrds from the beach, both 2 to 3,lb mark.

Couple of bites after that, then went dead.

Bait: lug/rag/frozen blacks/razor/bluey & mussel....2 fish on the top hook rag end, other was fouled, so seems possibly the other bait was the attraction, the rag was what they had the taste for.

Also needed a decent cast, 80/90/ yards to get at the back of the breakers, tried a couple of shorts casts with no joy.

Anyway just glad of a decent bag, with only having the odd fish here and there the last few trips.

Great session and welcome to NESA. Good on you picking that stuff up that the so called anglers had left, shouldn't need to, absolute lazy cretins.
