Well lads me and my mate Ian travelled down to Sunderland today to see how it was fishing. Nothing doing at Roker so we travelled the short distance to Shields. Headed to the end of the pier but thought we would not get on as some women had chucked herself in commiting suicide. Cid were leaving as we got to gates so we were let on.
Went to the 44 mark and had half a dozen casts and nothing. Sea was still big and it looked promising. We decided to move down the pier and fish behind the surf-couple of casts but far to heavy.
Ended up by gate fishing into river side. Two rods each-one loaded pennell pulley rig the other three hook flappers. I got 4 flatties and my mate one whitey.
Very poor for Cod with just a couple caught on end before tide began to push in.
Could,nt help thinking we should have stayed on the beach at Roker and fished behind the surf.
Mick.
