  • Kirkudbright.

Me and my mate jumped in the motor yesterday for another day of fishing rock marks in the Solway.
After 120 mile drive arrived at chosen spot and it was tough going from the outset. After a good four hours of nothing Ian began to winkle out a few Dog fish. I was fed up-blanked all day until last hour when on my third last cast I caught this 6.5 lb Thornback Ray. It took a Mackeral baited pulley rig.

my last two casts also got a dogfish.
Left still feeling a bit fed up as we were after Smoothounds and yet again struggled with them. I have a feeling a drive down to Humberside will be on the cards next.
    Tight lines Mick.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

That Ray's so bright, you had to wear shades

Nice one Mick, first a Tope and now a Ray. Makes the trip worthwhile and you will get your Smut in the end

The only reason I am asking is I know most of the popular marks over that way but don't recognize that one from the picture. Just interested.
