  • level wind.

jllust an idear for those using level wind reels.have yous ever thought of slightly cutting through your level wind just so you can take your line out.then cast out minus level wind,in water then put line back through l/w ready to reel in l/w now back in use to rel back in.but if you tried it dont forget to move l/w to one side for casting out,if all that makes sense, whats your thoughts.ps,i know it works 100%.

I think I know what you mean but I'm not sure it would work efficiently as the level wind gearing will still be engaged. As the spool rotates and lets out line, the line guide would continue to travel back and forth.
The only way it would work is if the gearing is disengaged or the line guide pawl is removed/backed off from the worm shaft. Both options would involve a certain amount of "mechanical faffing" with a high probability that an essential component will be dropped or lost.
