After the often problem i am having of nesting my reel without brakeblocks in i have decided to try and slow the spool down by fitting them but when i come to do so the rod they sit on seems to be to thin for the brakeblocks provided and they seem to slide off, does anyone know any methods to keep them onto the metal rod?

when you get them in the casing they will not slide off as the drum stops them

They always slide off when you're puting reel together so just have to be careful. Once reel is assembled they will do their job but wont slide off

yeah thanks just found out i was trying 2 be smart and spun the reel and lost the 2 clear ones on my carpet so stuck with the red ones until i find them.

i use 3 and 1 on me bearings couple of drops before each trip works for me cracking reel one of my favourite reels stick with it you will get it working for you

Try using a thicker mainline, 30lb and shock leader for example. You'll be surprised how much it works.

As Sean said, i use 30lb mono on my slosh and never have nesting problems.

i have tryed a few lines now 25lb ultima f1 and now using some penn red ice stuff.what 30lb line you using because ive seen diawa sensor 30lb and its like a toe-rope

I personally use 30lb red ice.

I use IMAX hypercast ice clear it's only 12 quid for 1000m and it stands up well in rough stuff too the dia is ok at 0.50 @ 30lb well worth it. Find it goes nice and supple after a few casts.

i also use 30lb red ice on my sl30sh. Only has one red brake block in it (like this when i bought it) just put a couple of drops of 10w-40 semi-synthetic engine oil and used it for the first time tonight with no problems at all, was nice to use and could really give it some welly.

I swear by 30lb Ultima F1 on my slosh, its a bit more expensive than most but its a fine diameter so it casts well and it is super strong, always remember to underfill the reel while your getting used to it. As pityacker said 10-40w motor oil in the bearings slows it down nicely.
