Stuck spigot!!

just put a new rod together and now it won't come apart....

anyone got any tips??

Twist and pull

Not much else you can do, i had one stuck put some release oil down but never made must difference as it was a tight fit...1 on one end and 1 on the other your best bet.

Once You Get Them Apart Check For Any Signs Of Damage To The Joint.
Had This Happen To Myself Once And The Joint Broke, Cracked And Splinted On A Cast And The Tip Section Went Flying Into The River. Luckly The Rod Was A Greys And Was Replaced

swing the rod like a skipping rope pulling gently, worked for me once

...next question....apart from the obvious not pushing it together as hard as buggery...is there anyway to ensure smooth coupling and uncoupling of carbon rod spigots joints?

Did exactly the same thing myself after taking delivery of a new Ugly Stik, eventually I read a post, maybe on here, that said to stick a pair of rubber gloves on. The extra grip works wonders.

not vacumed together was it, had that happen a few times in the past, hole in the buttcap cured the problem

just rub a pencil over the spigot the carbon gives ita good coating and shud pull apart without too much hassal

little rub with a wax candle

rub a candle in side of and you will be fine and try to keep your rod inside the house or somewhere warmish not to cold

Try a little PTFE spray mate - you can get it from Halfords.

Yep....wipe down with a damp cloth first to get rid of any build up of gunk, then rub with a pencil.

This happened to me with a 350 quid fly rod I was in a state of panic mentioned it to an old boy on the way off the lake and he said give it hear I`ll show you a trick and what he did was place it behind his knees holding it with both hands to the outsides of his legs to hold it straight and used the force of his legs pushing apart against his hands and it came apart panic over just incase this happens again worth a try but I must admit I was panicking as he was bent over I was screaming wow wow wow mate its a 350 quid rod

If it happens again try pouring hot water ( not boiling ) over the female spiggot joint while twisting it. The female part expands slightly loosening the joint. No puns on tight females lads, we all know what they're like....

that's what ah would say as well, happened to me before, boil the kettle and pour it over, did the trick for me
