Ark Royals last visit to the Tyne

The Ark Royal entering her home port for the last time today 19 Nov 2010. It was a very cold and foggy day as she entered between the River Tyne piers. She is going to be decomissioned

just rubbing salt in the wounds, bringing it back to the Tyne. Nice bit of expensive scrap metal though

and in even more bitter irony, both the chilean and Argentinean navies have expressed an interest

Just out of interest, if she was laid on the sea bed at about 3 miles out sitting upright then the topmost point would almost break surface. She looke to be about 120ft (scaling the sailors as 6ft) and the 5 mile wrecks are only about 150ft deep :)
there is a lot less depth out there than one can imagine

plus whats under the water Norman - probs be about 150 ft sitting on sea bed
