Folding Crab/Lobster pot's.

Ive seen people a few times chucking these out from the end of a pier but dont think ive seen anyone pulling anything back in yet..
Just wondered if anyone on here has one or has tried them and could say if their any use or not?..
Im asking just as ive got a job coming up soon where im going to be working for a few weeks down the port at Hendon, i'd love to be able to cast a line out and have a bit fish while supposed to be at graft but cant see me getting away with it if the gaffa turns up!
So i thought this could be the next best thing, I could just bait it up in a morning chuck it out and leave it throughout the day then pull it in before I leave... Is that the craic with these, would you leave it out for 8 hours?..
Also for bait would chunks of Mackerel be ok to use do you think? Just ive still got a few left frozen off the summer..

yes mate i have one caught coiles big crabs and lobsters caught more in the net than the rod used on roker pier well worth the money

If i am right you are not able to use mackerel in pot's, alot of people use coalie or cod heads, rules change all the time..save your money and buy more fishing tackle

Id go for the bigger pot, as theres more room in the zipper bag for bait, this will help the pot sink faster, Ive had a smaller pot out and when reeling in pulled the pot in aswell as it has drifted with the tide, and it could potentially hold a bigger lobster, I used frozen and older coalie/mashed up fish guts with a drop of cooking oil makes a good pot bait, Youl need a really long rope, but there quite fun as you never know what your going to pull up.

used them before had the odd crab and lobster with them not too bad if you dont mind carrying that little bit extra

Ive had loads of lobsters out of mine, i generally add some more weight to them as they can drift in a stronger tide.

u get all sorts in them mate. coalie , rockling some funky eel like butternumber thing ...crabs and lobsters... even seen worms in it lol ... chicken carcass ofur sunday roast anything oily will do thats just me tho ....

i heard the best bait in the pots is gurnard as its skin is really tough so it lasts a long time in the pot the best thing to use on the pier is a booler (think thats what its called) basically its just an old boke wheel rim (spokes removed) attach some strawberry netting around the rim then attach your bait in the netting chuck the rim over the side (with rope attached in the middle so when retrived it doesnt wobble) check it every 40 mins i myself have had some cracking days using this method i normally take a fishing rod with me so i can catch my pot bait at the same time

im sure you need a permit now for doing that now, even if its just one pot.
