im expecting people to extract the urine out of me here but stuff it.
ive heard the nip off a rag worm hurts lol, and can make you bleed like you live on asprin. been fishing just over a year, and never used them without someone hooking them for me or me cutting their heads off. this is due to the storys i have heard about the bites or nips hurt. im not soft, but just like a wasp sting, you dont know what its like til it happens. so does it hurt or not. CAN TAKE PEOPLE TAKING THE MICK SO DONT WORRY LOL.

i once tempted a mate to a fiver, by telling him to let a rag bite him. he wouldnt. thats what makes me think lol i had them the last time i night fished tynemouth pier, i put one on the wall just before getting a mate to hook it, could hear its pincer scraping off the stone !

I've never been bit but my mates dad told me its the shock of getting nipped that gets you but it doesn't hurt.

Just make sure you pick it up at the head and you'll be ok.

and hook it straight through the head ? thats what ive been told to do, but its the thought of threading them on the hook, thats when i worry lol tempted to let one bight me, cant hurt any more hooking yourself with a 8/0 lol

How would you react if someone was trying to stick a bloody great hook through your head then down out of your backside? And on the plus side, if the worm is trying to nip you then at least you know it is nice and fresh ;)

And if you are really that bothered just use a baiting needle, makes baiting up a doddle especially with big worm baits

They don't hurt at all, the only time you'll usually get nipped off one is if you've got one in your hand and you get distracted and forget it's there

@stewart, i wouldnt be happy, obviously. but i was just wondering how much if at all, it hurts. what are these baiting needles, still new to fishing, tell me more please :)

cheers wiz, and big phil, you should have seen me with the last lot of peeler, lol. me mate said they wont nip because they are quite docile and are peeling, but defo not keen on peeling crab.

Put them in a really cold fridge keeps them docile. Its ok used to fish with a lad who used to wear gloves and cut the heads of ragworm and to peel a crab used to use scissors wouldnt touch a fish needless to say dont fish with him now lol

lol i used scissors with the crab, and only fish i wont hold, well i will but i use a towel, is mackerel. get covered in scales. anything else i dont mind. gut fish with me hands after i opened their cavity, its just the sound of pain i dont like lol. mind you, fishing in -7 on blyth pier exposed to the elements was quite painful.

Ive been niped a few times never hurt its like a little nip finger was red were it pincers went in but apart from that wasnt nowt to get worked up about. I just see them as a worm wich cudnt really harm u so have no fear of the hoy me had straight in pick cupple up hold them in one had while bating one up on hook. There prety doclice things. I wudnt want to be holding fresh wild big rag like as there much more lively criters but dont be put of there just worms lol
