I was thinking of buying a backrest/harness for my Beta box until i seen the price ! just wondered if anyone knew of any cheap alternatives or idea\'s,maybe someone has made a DIY backrest ! The only thing I can think of is to use a harness off a diving bottle set up.might end up buying one yet just seems a bit expensive @ £25 plus.
Probably a long shot but if anyone has one for sale let me know ?

frankie findus(a lad off south shields pier) uses a brown ale crate
8\" nails for weights
if your realy economising

if you can get the metal frame of a rugsack it will do the job just aswell.shaped just the same but slightley longer.cheers john

couple of car seat belts with extra support where you cut the slots through the box. Easy to do but how long it will last...........

22mm copper tube make a frame up using soldered fittings/pipe, attach with suitable clips attach a couple of straps bingo......

ideas ideas...... :casstet: :casstet:

buying one could be easier lol

or you can just cut the handles off a old bag put a bolt through each side and a washer then ya sorted! might do that myself yet :) ...

I\'m in the same boat as u alan. My titan bag refuses to get dry in the shed  and me misus won\'t have it near the warm of :( the house

i am busy making mine now on my sundridge box making an aluminium frame like a rucksack frme then added straps onto the side similar to the breackway 1

For the piece of mind that its not going to fall off your back when your hoppinig about over rocks, or even just walking across a beach back to the car, i would pay the £25 for a one specially made Alan, have you ever added up how much your tackle(fishing that is) is worth when you add it all together- i did it the other day on our club match and it really did shock me on the £££££££s i was carrying about with me , so yes you may save a few quid but if the strap or bracket fails you could lose 2 - 3 reels down some gulley - also a Badly made one will do your back in and then you cant fish, so i would buy one- i have one and they are a doddle to fit. Cheers Brih. ;)

Excellent point Brian, sometimes take three reels with me,lazy really should take one out but you never know if you need a spare or if you change location, rrp £400 plus, plus my other bits of gear ie rig wallet, sinkers, knife, spare head lamp, flask and eh sometimes my mobile blower so approx £100 for my bits and bobs and about £80 for the mobile, knocking on £600 here,Looks like its a Breakaway for me, cheers Bri ;)
Can\'t see the wood for the tree\'s !

Well i have made mine now it is an absoultue smashing job. i used the top of a sack barrow for the frame bolted it on and then cut straps off a bag and stiched those on. It fite my back perfectly! ill try to get a picture when i have time!
cheers lads,
