hagfish

Whats going on this year, can any of the older lads ever remember there being a year with so many hag fish around? i have fished for 20 years now and never seen,caught or heard of as many that have been reported this year. I mean there is bloody shoals of them swimming on the surface with the tide rip into the tyne on the big tides.

they are certainly on the increase, however last year was the most prolific i\'ve known them, only had a couple this year but had dozens last year (i had four on only two hooks on one occasion)

kept a couple to try as pike baits, caught nothing on them but did have a run on one so maybe another try is in order.

Me either Davy not that I\'m complaining lol. Retrieved my gear a few times with the slime on them and all twisted, straight into a bag and slung.

Havn;t had a haggfish but can remember suckers & grannies in abundance (any relation?) I can remember hoyin spratts at barbed wire fences to feed the gullies if they agreed to rob people on the train. Man & Gull can live together. Any Questions?
