one rod in comps

when fishing comps its normally one rod and line in water. a second rig is set up with bait so a quick change over can be done so that the line is in the water quicker and thus saving time. can you not have another rod set up and when one rod is reeled in the other cast out. only one line in the water at one time ;)

cheers

I\'m not that clued up on Comps Mark as I dont fish many and I\'m not in a club but I honestly cant see what difference it makes as long as only one line is wet

the reason being m8 is some ppl in this world would use both. personally i think its just more tackle to hump around easier using a fast link and a second trace

usually you can have two rods set up, sometimes with a link only sometimes with rig attached.speeds it up if you crack one off or if its weedy.

I can`t think of any of the North East opens that allow two rods to be set up.

If you really want to save time on baiting up, double pat (second rig already baited up)

5. No competitor may have fitted up at the same time more than one rod or handline.

Newbiggin Open rules

Think there all the same up this area

just asking lads, cheers :D but i cant see the diffarence between having a rig baited up hanging off ya stand and another rod just wiating by until first set of gear is out of water, the rule says \"fitted up\"
i do see however that some people might cheat with this method if it was allowed, thanks again ;)

different comps have different rules mainly over here .a spare rod can be used with line through the rings but no trace attached .

seaham comp rules are only one rod set up , other comps may vary from one with one having line no further than one ring on the rod , to some you can have three rod set up and baited but only one in the water .

All SAMF matches allow you to have three rods, rigged, baited, and ready to go. In my opinion, this is great, I fish lots of SAMF matches all over the country, and the time saved is immense. A dry line doesn\'t catch fish!! After all, a tennis player doesn\'t turn up with just one raquet, or a golfer with just one club...need I go on??

That\'s why most successful Tennis players and Golfers are chinless eejuts.

One rod, one man, raw in tooth and claw.

And a couple of baited rigs on the side.

any comps i\'ve ever organised i always included the rule

no competitor may have more than one rod with running line set up at the same time.
ie you may take as many rods as you want with reels attached but only one may have the line running through the rod rings at any time.

nice simple rule that can not be misconstrued !

As has been said most NE matches use the one rod rule. However if you are fishing a pegged match one a venue where conditions change with the tide etc it is often handy to have differnt gear set up i.e. to go lighter/heavier etc ot try different set ups or distance.
