Ages since I fished this venue, you have the choice of bank or boat fishing(take the boat option) the only thing I can truly state is stay away if it is a windy day. The fishery is situated in a valley(lovely scenery) but if there is a breeze at home it is a strong wind when you get to caistron.
This may seem a bit of a downer, but hey, take your chance and you could have a cracking day.

Definitely better on the boat or the bank at the far side of the pond. Beautiful scenery but hard work from the side bank where the reception and car park is situated. Fish seem to prefer deeper water, so unless you take your beach caster, I'd go for the boat!
Last time I fished there (March) I caught two on gold head nymphs, but have heard that black patterns work well there.

I was catching my fish on sparcley dressed damsel fly's and black buzzers, this was quite a while ago but with the cold weather I would try a couple of mini lures as the fish could be deep.

Use varius tactics and i'm sure you will get a bend in your rod.

Best of luck mate and tight lines.
