What kind of beach is Lynemouth? (apart from sandy )

Is it steep? shallow? pebbly:question:

I know I should try and get across to scope it out myself but I won't have the time between now and saturday when i'm fishing it...

Any advice on what to expect greatly appreciated ;):D

As Rod says, its steep pebbles and the water is black with coal. Also everytime ive been there is been blowing a hoolie.

if you are fishing bottom end of beach its a canny walk and youve got the boulders to get over make sure you have headlamp if you are going in the dark.you dont need a big cast either 50 to 100yards should do

Some great mixed shots Tony ,good rock marks ,heavily sloping beaches with pebbles and coal as mentioned , I love the place ,however the parking can be a wee bit dodgy especcially at night.

Travellers site I think you mean, It is not acceptable in the 21st century to refer to someone as a "gypsy

Define Gypsy - somebody with nomadic lifestyle: somebody who has a nomadic or unconventional lifestyle

I agree with Jim, I think there's a cross over with Lynemouth Beach and Alcan...basically the boundaries where I'm fishing on saturday are from Bog Hall Rocks at the North End of Lynemouth and The Beacons at the south end of Alcan beach...

Alcan, I know, is a silty/coaly type of beach, seemingly with a quite shallow run off

I have a feeling we are talking two different beaches here, Alcan beach and Lynemouth beach, please correct me if I am wrong lol.

Jim.

i always thought alcan and lynemouth were one and the same, alcan just comes into because of the alcan works being there. either way its a horrible dirty beach with deep water close in and some good fishing to be had in the right conditions, plus it fishes in daylight and darkness too,lol just watch your car:)

hi there

first time iv'e posted reply, site is great

im fishing lynemouth myself this saturday and find the beach there great i park at the security hut outside of seabait and fish the beach to the right of seabait it's nearly flat and has rocky outcrop's to the left and right but not lost any gear there yet(touch wood)

I thought it was called Lynemouth and the sandy bit to the right called Lynburn? Just starting to pick up local knowledge but for what you's are talking about Tony it's all Lynemouth lol. Sandy to the right of alcan and a lot more shallow. Pebbles to the left and rocks to the far left.

no more confusion?

no more confusion?

Reet...this is how I understand the boundaries for Lynemouth...;):o

  1. Bog Hall Rocks?
  2. Lynemouth main beach?
  3. Alcan Beach
  4. Beacon Rocks
Can anyone confirm/correct this?
