not sure whether i fancy smoked garfish like...but i might now be tempted to keep the next fair size scotchie i catch
Looking forward to the pollock and chips next week. The guy must surely be stoppin off on the north east coast at some point in the series!? Bet he goes to whitby or summit
Good program ...but a bit of a sickener for members of the national mullet club.
Since the programme was in essence to put across sustainably line caught fishing I would hardly think mullet fall into that category. Anpther thing to consider is the definiition of line caught fish. If line caught fish includes those caught by longlines...this is definately not sustainable fishing practice as spurdog and skate have discovered to their cost. It is hardly realistic to expect rod and line angling to meet the demands of the nation for fish so best just veiwed as a mixture of recipes to experiment with
It will be interesing to see what other species are featured later in the series.
I'd be surprised if HFW expects the commercial needs of the country to be met by Rod and Line anglers...what he does advocate (especially in his other programmes) is small holdings and self sufficiency...if only we were a nation of farmers again maybe society wouldn't be so fat and idle
