Well where do I start???
Fished a spot on Horden (not telling you where) I have never fished. Someone had robbed the spot I've fished for the last few weeks, so thought I'd give this new mark a go. I started off with a whitie followed by a good coalie, then another whitie. Then things went bad, crack off after crack off.
Cast in for the first time in about an hour and got a good bite resulting in a cod of 1lb 11oz, then another 2 lb 4oz. Then another good bite and things went very heavy. I had managed to hook a 3lb 2oz cod along with a 1lb coalie on one of the traces I had lost and another empty trace
Another cast and this time a cod of 2lb 14oz, then my biggest of 4lb 9oz. That was it fish wise for me, my mate managed a cod of about a pound and half and another one of my rigs lol.
The sea was as flat as a fart, yet between 3 of us we managed:
7 cod 4lb 9oz - 1lb 8oz
4 coalie 1lb 8oz - 1lb
6 whitie, biggest about 20oz
and a flounder about 14oz
I think a change of rig and the bait I was using played a big part in the fish I caught, but I just seem to attract cod like a magnet at the moment. Heres hoping it continues for whats looking likely to be a great cod season. The fish weren't supposed to be feeding whilst it was flat but someone obviously forgot to tell them. lol
Oh and forgot to mention that my mate had great success with bluey, which took all his fish except 1
