Just got back from blyth pier was a few people on,four of us fished.
Fished just before bend from 7 till 10.
Used runny down,razor,rag,squid,mussle
Not a fish to be seen apart from the whiting or poss poddler caught by a lad next to us.
Asked a few people and they had caught any thing and they had nothing to,sea looked spot on to.
Wonder where all the fish are hiding, gonna wait till the sea settles down a bit more and maybe hit a rock mark

i was there too and only saw one fish between 3 and 6, and that was a poddler caught by me.

why though when theres a whole pier do some tosspots insist on fishing on top of you???

He maybe just liked you Ian ;) :D I know what you mean though, best thing is to take two rods and just keep pulling him in with your spare one. That way he will get sick before you do.

Oops, meant to say, bad luck vamp. It might start fishing if the sea keeps up for another day or so. Your rock mark would probably be a good idea though mate

Jim.

who knows, after the bend was pretty empty but the pull was a little to much there and people couldnt hold bottom,a bloke told me

i had two rods, i couldnt be bothered with the grief of telling him where to go, was the final straw when i went to reelin and tripped over his rod whilst picking mine up. he wasnt even six feet away from me, yet to his right was 30 yards of empty pier.

its the same at steetly, if theres a 6 inch gap in the railings someone will claim it, then do a pendulum cast (well attempt one) and nearly kill you!!!

sort of reminded me why i normally fish beached, plenty of room!

I had a look up and was going to fish but looked as thos the breakers were crashing too far out and loads of white water spoke to a couple of lads who came off and said nowt was being caught so will be out tomorrow night when the sea starts to drop off.

Aye i hate that, Your fishing somewhere and some eedjit comes and starts fishing right next to ya when there is two miles of free pier they could fish..

What i do now is take a couple of bollards and place them 50 yards iether side of my swim..:D:D;)

I know what you mean mate, some people have their preferred spot on piers and they will fish it no matter what, everyone has their preferred spots to fish whether it's piers or beaches but if that spot is taken then you've got to use common sense and realise when you are just too close, trouble is though, and I've said if for years, there's no such thing as common sense.

I fished hendon wall years ago, I was the only one on until someone came and fished about 20 foot away from me, he made the mistake of telling me he didn't have a head lamp so he would have to fish next to me so he could see what he was doing (I had my hippolito paraffin lamp lit up) so I baited up cast out switched my own headlamp off and then let the pressure out of my paraffin lamp. He packed up about 10 mins later. :D

The ironic thing is, if he'd said that his lamp was broken and asked me if I minded him fishing next to me so he could see what he was doing I would have positioned the lamp in between the two of us. It's all about being courteous really.

Now I'm the same as you, that's why I prefer to fish beaches.

I have had that happen quite a few times and would never say no to such a request. I would say that I wish I had a couple of times though lmao.

Courtesy costs nothing and is always appreciated.

Was it still frosty when you drove home Craig. :D :D :D

it's the same down south! At Dungeness last weekend I had 100 yards empty to my left and 50 yards free to my right. 2 numpties set up 20yards to my left and 30 mins later 2 more lads set up to my right. As soon as the tide started to run you need to use 170g+ fixed wire leads to hold bottom. They were using 150g break outs and had no chance....tangle city. I just packed my gear and walked 400 yards to my right and had empty beach and good fishing with no hastle. Why don't some people think?
