well done on your cod mate i have only had one this season, still hopefully there will be a few bigguns out there before the season ends

just thought, may be of interest, when i gutted the codling it had 2 and only two shrimps in the gut, no pipefish as i have seen reported, the whiting were the same, very little but shrimp in the gut

congrats on your first codling mate, and thanks for the report.
p.s that cods got a mouth on it like my blow up doll !! lol

yeah my other hobby is marine fish keeping, one the lads on there said after looking at that cods gob he now knows why i like fishing on my own at night :D

Sounds like a canny session well done, where abouts do uou get onto the beach and are there any specific marks to fish,i think i may have fished there once,i parked the car at the bottom of a housing estate and followed a long path/road underneath a bridge which brings you out on a beach which almost looks like a moonscape lots of mud and boulders,is that the sameplace?

yep thats horden beach, good walk if you aint got a 4x4, basically fish take in most areas of the beach where i have been, only place i have problems is directly opposite where you get onto the beach and slightly left, anything over 100 yards and i hit what is possibly a old net, that codling came from the right hand side the beach, walk untill the river cuts the beach and about 70 yards further on-bit of a hike though, there is a car park at the bottom of that lane you talk about, however the localbobby advised me never to park there because of the bast*ds in the area and it could get wrecked or burnt out, there are other accesss points , i often see the local mountain goat anglers going home via them, what i often do especially if theres no big waves is use two rods, one as far as i can get it and the other at varying distances, can be very popular especially at weekends and allthough there would be plenty of room i pref to give other anglers plenty of room, nowt worse than setting up and someone comes down late and sets up on your shoulder

Thinking about taking the boy to a beach mark tomorrow, forecasting 7 ft swells,do you think its worth a shot in daylight hours.
thanks for your response

Its good to here about the swell. Thought the sw might bottom everything out. Down Hartlepool tomorrow so i,ll have a look and see where is the best place to go.

Still a lot of weather activity way out in the north sea which should keep the swell going for a day or two........fingers crossed!!!!

never fished it in daylight to be honest, though i have seen plenty of guys there in daylight, if theres good water movement it should bring anything in so if your at a loose end then it could be worth a try, just take a couple heavy wieghts in case you cant hold bottom with your normals if the swell is bad

horden was unfishable today. if its ok i mite have a look down tomorrow or monday. If your fishing it in daylight you want a bit of colour in the water for the fish to feed.
